Surface Temperature 1°C since 1880

• The world is getting warmer. Evidence leans toward human activity being the cause as thermometer readings have risen steadily since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution.
• The average global temperature has increased by about 0.8° Celsius since 1880. Two-thirds of the warming has occurred since 1975, at a rate of roughly 0.15-0.20°C per decade.

Arctic Sea Ice -13% per decade

• Between 1979 and 2015, the average monthly extent for September declined by 13% per decade, with a record low in 2012 when sea ice plummeted to 3.41mn square kilometers.
• Moreover, it appears that low minimum extents in the Arctic have become the “new normal” since the mid-2000s.

Atmospheric CO2 412 ppm

• Atmospheric CO2 levels measured at Mauna Loa Observatory (Hawaii) have increased over the past 60 years, exceeding the 410 parts per million (ppm) milestone in 2018, the highest level since the Pliocene Era (as per National Geographic).
• Moreover, atmospheric CO2 levels appear to be cyclical, with annual maximums and minimums.
